Travelling on Greyhound
For those of you travelling on a Greyhound bus, Mission Beach is not a rest area, ( it is a drop off and pickup point only ) this means do not go to the toilet, buy food or drink or go for a walk.......you will get left behind. It happened again to two girls today, all of their gear was left on the bus, not just their backpacks but their bags with passport, wallets etc. Not a fun thing to happen while on holidays.

School Camp =)
Tully once again proved why it's been named the wettest town in Australia. It's a pitty the rains had to fall whilst I was on school camp at Murray Falls ( approx. 1hr from Mission Beach) . Our camp ground was almost evacuated because of rising rivers and we were all cold and wet for 4 days. By far the highlight of the camp was attempting to float home-made rafts (with 20 kids on each) down the swollen Murray River. Most of us were very unsuccessful as parts of our rafts floated away before we could actually get on them. Apart from the rain, the camp was a great success and I would recommend Murray Falls to anybody looking for a nice place for a swim, picnic or camping spot.

Big day yesterday
I had a friend call me to ask if I could help her out, she needed me to drive from Mission Beach to Cairns, catch a charter flight to Georgetown ( inland ) and then drive the 4.5hrs back to Cairns to return a rental car, and then drive home to Mission Beach. It was a big day but quite fun, particularly as it was a small 4 seater plane and I was able to sit next to the pilot as I was the only passenger, how cool is that!

South Johnstone Butchers
Coming back to Mission Beach from the Atherton Tablelands on Monday, I came through the little town of South Johnstone. This was excellent I thought at I pulled up at the butchers there. Its one of the best butcher shops in Australia. He smokes his own hams and meats and salamis are made on the premises. Mmmm...mmmm Oh yeh...my double smoked pork chops were a real hit last night. I will be going back to stock up sooner rather than later!!!

The Best Beach
Some lovely NZ tourists came into the Mission Beach Information Station today and told me that Mission Beach was by far the best beach they had been to in Australia. Funny...they didn't have to tell me. I already knew :) !!!

Leaving Mission Beach
We have had some lovely visitors staying in Mission Beach, and coming in to the Mission Beach Information Station every other day to work on their laptop. Today they told me that this is probably their last time in as they have to head off to Sydney on Sunday. I can't believe how quickly their six week visit has gone, its easy to spend that much time in such a beautiful spot...... thats why we live here.
