Helicopter over the reef

Yesterday I drove from Mission Beach to Cairns to go out on the Sunlover Reef Trip. It was an awesome day. We saw the monster Maori Wrasse called Wally. What a character he is. He followed the underwater photographer around like a puppy dog waiting for his tip bits. By far the highlight of the day was the 10 minute helicopter flight with GBR Helicpoters. I would recommend to anyone coming to North Queensland to do it. Its a spectacular way to see the reef from 500metres above. If you would like any information on this trip or any other in our region pop into the

Swimming

Swim in the warmth of our tropical water. Mission Beach boasts shallow beaches without rough surf and with minimal undertow, making it great fun for little ones. Two stinger resistent enclosures are also available. It is recommended that you do not swim during the stinger season (generally from December to May) as marine jellyfish stings can be deadly. River Rat Eco Cruise

Sunday night my Mum and I enjoyed the River Rat Eco Cruise at Mission Beach. It's a lovely cruise along the Hull River looking for crocodiles and putting in a crab net. The really fun part is when it gets dark you get out the spotlight and look along the river bank for the 2 little red lights that are the tell tale sign of a crocodile. Unfortunately the crabs had to go back in as they were undersized but that's okay it was all for fun. We had a lovely picnic at Hull Heads after a short stroll along the beach to look at the islands, you can see the Family Group, Dunk, Bedarra and Hinchinbrook. Just lovely!
