I had the pleasure of dining at Mission Beach's newest restaurant Spicy Thai Hut on Tuesday night. Thai food is a real favourite of mine and I can tell you the meals were fantastic. They are located in Wongaling Beach and you can dine in or takeaway. So I strongly suggest you go in and check it out!

Coral Sea Kayaking

My sister and brother-in-law came to visit me here in Mission Beach. On Saturday we had a fabulous day with Coral Sea Kayaking. We sea kayaked over to Dunk Island, lunching and snorkelling on Coconut Beach on the far side of the Island. The wildlife put on a bit of a show for us, we saw turtles, sting rays, flying fish and a small shark. It was awesome to visit Dunk Island under our own steam, there is a real sense of achievement when you get back to South Mission Beach at the end of the day. This is one tour I can strongly recommend!!!!!

Lacey Creek Walking Track

A favourite amongst the locals in Mission Beach! The track is about 7 km out of town, is 1.2km long, and extremely beautiful. Informative signage, fish viewing platform and a chance of seeing the elusive cassowary make this a terrific walk. Toilet and picnic facilities available. The Rainforest did suffer significant damage from Cyclone Larry (2006) which provides visitors with a unique opportunity to see the rainforest's regeneration process.

There are two stinger enclosures set up, one in South Mission Beach near Beachcomber Coconut Village and one in Mission Beach near Castaways Resort & Spa. On Tuesday we enjoyed a leisurely drive from Mission Beach to Innot Hot Springs, with a stop at the The Falls Teahouse in Milla Milla for a lovely lunch. We spent lots of time in the thermal pools at the Innot Hot Springs Holiday Village, although we didn't venture out to dig our own hole in the sand to enjoy the springs out in the creek. Save that for next time! I can recommend this as a great mini break, there are motel and 1 bedroom units, powered and unpowered camping available as well as Day Guest entry to the pools.

We needed the rain

It's lovely to drive around Mission Beach and see the green lawns again, we certainly needed the rain we have had over the last week or so. Well today is the day for the Mission Evolve Music Fest. It's a lovely day for it and I hope its a great event for Mission Beach and particularly for all the people who have worked so hard to bring this festival together. Bingil Bay

Situated at the northern end of Mission Beaches, Bingil Bay is arguably the prettiest beach in a beautiful established but underdeveloped area. Originally the Cutten Brothers grew tea and tropical produce in the rich local red soil and loaded into boats in Bingil Bay bound for southern market. Mission Beach no longer produces tea however there are still many banana plantations here

'Drifters'....A Majestic Old Queenslander

Situated at the northern end of Mission Beaches, Bingil Bay is arguably the prettiest beach in a beautiful established but underdeveloped area. Originally the Cutten Brothers grew tea and tropical produce in the rich local red soil and loaded into boats in Bingil Bay bound for southern market.

This grande old 1950's dame is a traditional timber queenslander with timber VJ walls, hardwood belt rails, casement window, cathedral coloured glass, french doors, fan lights and all the trimmings.

Soak away your worries in the claw foot bath which features exposed trombone taps and a shower over the bath.

Its the annual Mission Beach Banana Festival this coming Saturday 22nd August. Starting from 1pm and going through till late. Dunk Island

Dunk Island is perhaps Australia's most famous and beautiful rainforest Island. Dunk Island is located off shore from Mission Beach. Known to its first inhabitants as 'Coonanglegah', meaning island of peace and plenty, Dunk Island has much to offer. Being prodominantly a National Park, Dunk Island has an abundance of rainforest walking tracks and secluded beaches.

It has been a crazy morning here at the Mission Beach Information Station. I have been booking bus tickets, car rentals, accommodation and tours. We have a good supply of food and drinks which are selling well this morning as well as people coming in to use the Internet. Mission Beach had the pleasure of hosting the Sunrise Weather crew with Fifi Box on Tuesday. Its great to get some national coverage from such a popular morning program. Fifi and the crew left Mission Beach and headed to Tully yesterday and Paronella Park today. Thank you to the crew and we hope you enjoyed your time in our beautiful area!!
