Edmund Kennedy Walking Track

My favourite walking track in Mission Beach is the Edmund Kennedy in South Mission Beach.....a walk through the rainforest, along the beach, around the point for a view of the Islands & on to Kennedy Bay. It's a 7km round trip but you can go as far as you like & then turn around. A fantastic option if you want to get out for a bit of exercise or to just enjoy the beautiful place we live in!

It seems like a bit of a foodie theme happening with us at the moment.......but I had a fabulous dinner at Millers Bar & Grill on Tuesday night. My steak & roasted vegies was great, I must say if I was a seafood eater then I would have been really impressed with my friends Seafood Platter, it had so many different thin...gs on the plate & got a big thumbs up. We are so lucky with our choices here in Mission Beach!

Dunk Island Sportsfishing

My Uncle went out fishing with Alistair from Dunk Island Sportsfishing yesterday and had a fabulous day. They went out to the Reef and caught many different types of fish, including the yummy nannygai that we had for dinner last night! I wonder what he will catch today????? Had a lovely day on the Echo Creek Rainforest & Cultural Experience "Yunba Tour". This is their new tour, its a shorter day for those people who might not have a lot of time to spend in Mission Beach. Johnstone River Crocodile Farm

Less than an hour drive from Mission Beach is the Johnstone River Crocodile Farm. I went there on Saturday morning for the 11am guided tour where the staff feed the crocodiles while telling us about them and the farm. They do this tour twice a day, again at 3pm in the afternoon. You can go anytime during the day but I find that its worth going on the tour. If your keen you can hold a snake and a crocodile, and you also get to feed the kangaroos that roam around the farm. My friend was very excited about holding the snake but I didn't find the need myself.

The Mission Evolve Music Fest is on again this year at Mission Beach. Yipeeee!! The venue is Dundee Park just a short drive from Mission. The date is 15th-17th October. Don't be square....be there!! Dunk Island

Had a fantastic day on Dunk Island yesterday. Went over on the Water Taxi which was a lovely way to travel. Did the walk to Muggy Muggy, and then almost got to the top of Mt Kootaloo before deciding it was time for lunch and a beer. Enjoyed them in the Planation Bar in the Resort before lounging around the cascade pool before it was time to head back to the mainland. Can't wait to go again! I popped into Castaways Resort at Mission Beach this morning for a coffee and a look at the renovations. WOW!!!...its totally gorgeous. The decor, the ambiance, the menu...all to die for. Mission beach locals are particularly well looked after with discounts on top of the already more than reasonable prices. You have to go and have a look .......its so worth it!!

Tropical Fruit Tasting

If you are passing through beautiful Mission Beach try and get down to see the lovely people at the Mission Beach Visitors Centre to try the fruit tasting on Mondays and Tuesdays for a small fee of $4.00 per person between 1 and 2pm. Its fabulous!!

Green Island

I had a fantastic day on Green Island this week. Less than an hour ferry ride from Cairns and your there. They are really well set up for day guests as well as having accommodation if you would like to stay on the Island. You can snorkel, parasail, take a helicopter ride or check out the marine life from the glass bottom boat, or just hang out on the beach. They have shops, restaurants and a bar in an area surrounding the pool. If your feeling more active then I was you can take a walk around the Island. Australian-Italian Festival 2010

Less than a 2 hour drive from Mission Beach is the Australian-Italian Festival 2010 - Held at the Ingham Showgrounds on the 14th - 16th May. We have copies of the Preliminary Program here at the Info Station so please come in and get one if your interested!

Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve

Had a great time at the Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve yesterday. We started the day off at 8.30am with Breakfast with the Beasts, and then followed the feeding times around the park. Went to Jetty's Restaurant & Wine Bar last night and had the most wonderful dinner. The food was just delicious. They currently have a special running 7 days a week, 3 courses for $35.00. Three of our party last night ordered from this menu and were raving about the food, so I suggest you check them out next time your deciding where to go out in Mission Beach!

Mission Beach Community Arts Centre (MBCAC) is holding its first election of a Management Committee at C4 7pm tonight, Monday 19th April 2010. It is a very important asset for the community and needs 7 willing committee members. Please come along - join and nominate yourself or another to help complete this centre (expected March 2011).
