About Mission Beach
Mission Beach is one of Queensland, Australia's best kept secrets. Fourteen kilometres of pristine, golden beach backs on to World Heritage listed rainforest. It is a little known fact that Mission Beach is the closest mainland point to the Great Barrier Reef which makes snorkelling and diving trips from here so great - less time travelling = more time in the water.
Mission Beach tours are the envy of many other coastal locations. From here you can be mad and skydive over the Great Barrier Reef, go white water rafting down Grade 3/4 rapids or do something more relaxing but just as energetic in sea kayaking out to the local offshore islands.
Our beach is completely dog-friendly so if your dog is part of your family then bring him too, he'll enjoy running on the beach like the rest of us.

If one were to hold up a giant magnet just off the shore of this island, would the asland itself shift through the sea toward the magnte, displacing massive amounts of water and triggering a tsunami which would wipe out all nearby coastal villages?
