How big is Australia?
One thing I have noticed with our overseas visitors to Mission Beach is that they are not really aware of how big Australia is. This means when they are planning their holiday they sometimes get caught out by the distance they need to travel from one place to the other, and end up missing out. Great Barrier Reef
There are two companies that visit the Great Barrier Reef from Mission Beach. Tropic Wings Tours
I have just gotten back to Mission Beach after doing a fantastic trip with Tropic Wings. A Cairns based company that do tours of the Atherton Tablelands, Kuranda, Cape Tribulation, Port Douglas, Green Island. We did the Kuranda Railway and Skyrail tour.The time inbetween was spent in Kuranda visiting the Butterfly Farm, the quirky village of Kuranda with its markets and great eating spots. We spent 3 hours at Rainforestation. What a fabulous place. Lunch was deeeeelicious and the Army Duck tour was certianly something different and memorable. The sun is shining again
If your in Mission Beach this weekend then your lucky enough to be enjoying the sunshine as I am. It's a great day to go walking through the rainforest or along the beach, a bit of a dip in the stinger nets ( yes they are still in ), or even jump in a kayak and go for a paddle. Its a fantastic thing to take back to show family and friends and prove that you really did do it !!! Well it is that busy time of year again where occasionally the Greyhound and Premier buses are fully booked, so if your travelling in or out of Mission Beach during the school holidays I suggest you book in advance so as not to be disappointed. Bedarra and Family Islands Tour

Helicopter over the reef
Yesterday I drove from Mission Beach to Cairns to go out on the Sunlover Reef Trip. It was an awesome day. We saw the monster Maori Wrasse called Wally. What a character he is. He followed the underwater photographer around like a puppy dog waiting for his tip bits. By far the highlight of the day was the 10 minute helicopter flight with GBR Helicpoters. I would recommend to anyone coming to North Queensland to do it.
