Swimming
Swim in the warmth of our tropical water. Mission Beach boasts shallow beaches without rough surf and with minimal undertow, making it great fun for little ones. Two stinger resistent enclosures are also available. It is recommended that you do not swim during the stinger season (generally from December to May) as marine jellyfish stings can be deadly. Personally we like to wear lycra stinger/sun suits all year round, it looks kinda funky......and it's a little like a helmet on a bicycle....always a handy thing to have.

The comparisons
I'm sitting here at work in Mission Beach, looking out the window at how green and wet it is, of course because its been raining for quite a while now and we are only hours away from terrible flooding. My Mum however is sweltering in mid 40 degrees down in country Victoria and has been for a couple of weeks. Its so hard to believe we are living in the same country right now as the weather is so extreme from one end to the other.

River Rat Eco Cruise
Sunday night my Mum and I enjoyed the River Rat Eco Cruise at Mission Beach. It's a lovely cruise along the Hull River looking for crocodiles and putting in a crab net. The really fun part is when it gets dark you get out the spotlight and look along the river bank for the 2 little red lights that are the tell tale sign of a crocodile. Unfortunately the crabs had to go back in as they were undersized but that's okay it was all for fun. We had a lovely picnic at Hull Heads after a short stroll along the beach to look at the islands, you can see the Family Group, Dunk, Bedarra and Hinchinbrook. Just lovely!

Mission Beach
The hideaway township of Mission Beach is surrounded by a lush backdrop of World Heritage listed wet tropical rainforest, sunkissed white sandy beaches and the silvery shimmering blues of the Cora Sea.
Sejala Beach House
Sejala Beach House is a magical place for an unforgettable tropical experience on absolute beachfront setting under the coconut trees – the most luxurious accommodation in Mission Beach proper. No travel from surrounding beaches – just a few metres through the natural foreshore to the main beach and four minutes walk to the casual dining and shopping in the peaceful little township of Mission Beach where you will still find that old far north Queensland tropical charm and ambience.
Sejala has been thoughtfully appointed with every attention to detail. The beautiful old timber house captures the elegance and understated luxury so evocative of the tropics with breezy light filled rooms, shuttered doors and windows, painted furniture, lazy overhead fans, courtyards, ponds, beach chairs, hammocks and exotic plants and fragrant frangipani everywhere.
The large pavilion style sitting room opens onto either the flagstone terrace overlooking the Coral Sea and the islands beyond or the stunning very private glass-tiled terrace pool and sunbathing area. The in-house pool is protected by a planting of pink ginger and mandevillea and the romance of night time bathing under the huge starry sky is a special Sejala experience.
